Seafood\u2014like salmon, mackerel, and sardines\u2014is an option with a bonus: It\u2019s rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which gives you a heart-health boost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Skinless chicken and turkey are also smart lean protein options. Eggs, too\u2014one egg has just 70 calories with 6 grams protein and eight essential nutrients. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEggs are high-protein and low-carbohydrate, which helps stabilize blood sugar levels and keep you full,\u201d says DeGore. They\u2019re extremely versatile, she adds, and as far as lean protein options go, very affordable.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>5. Healthy fats<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Getting enough of the right kind of fats is key to a healthy diet, especially when taking GLP-1. Monounsaturated fats\u2014which have been shown to lower LDL cholesterol\u2014have a protective effect on your heart, says the <a href=\"https:\/\/diabetes.org\/food-nutrition\/reading-food-labels\/fats\">ADA<\/a>.
